Circuit Protection in Racing

Today's automotive engines, from those on the IndyCar track to the ones in your driveway, use sophisticated electronic control units to achieve peak power train performance. To make sure those electronics keep operating in hostile automotive environments, under severe service conditions, Littelfuse supplies circuit protective devices to prevent overvoltage and overcurrent damage. Our metal oxide varistors (MOVs), transient voltage suppressor (TVS) devices, SIDACtor devices, subminiature fuses and additional types of protection help keep automotive and other consumer electronic circuits working when voltage spikes and current surges appear.

Littelfuse also protects the electronic circuits in consumer communications and infotainment products. For example, Littelfuse SPA™ TVS Diode Arrays (Silicon Protection Arrays) are designed to protect analog and digital signal lines, such as USB and HDMI, from various transient threats using the lowest possible clamp voltage. They offer broader application use and improved impulse protection performance over conventional diodes.

These robust diodes can safely absorb repetitive ESD strikes at the maximum level (Level 4) specified in the IEC 61000-4-2 international standard, without performance degradation.

As the world's #1 brand in circuit protection, Littelfuse offers the broadest and deepest circuit protection portfolio and a global network of technical experts backed by more than 80 years of application design experience. For more information on TVS Diodes download any of the white papers, application notes or tutorial information at left.
